This afternoon I was chatting to my colleagues about what to do in case of an emergency. Because of my research on AllSafe, I know of a handy little feature on iPhones for an emergency and decided to share it on the blog.

All iPhones with the latest operating system have a “panic” mode that can be activated. This is done by pressing the lock button 5 times in quick succession.

This will either immediately activate panic mode or give you the option to swipe to set off panic mode, depending on your settings. I’ve chosen the swipe option because I often click the lock button out of habit

In order to set panic mode up you need to do the following

  1. Select “Settings
  2. Scroll down to “Emergency SOS” and select
  3. Choose whether you want “Auto Call” or not. (Mine is off because of the reason mentioned above)
  4. Scroll down and select “Edit emergency contacts in health

And that’s it. If you want to test it, just let your emergency contacts know you’re running a test. Then proceed to press the lock button 5 times and send out the alert.

Your emergency contacts will received a message with your live location and will then be able to respond to the situation in an emergency.

I’d recommend that everyone set this feature up. You never know when it might come in handy ๐Ÿ™‚
